Not only did we create the Surge, we’re customers too. As the final tweaks were being put on the Surge for iPhone we were excited to get our hands on the working models. One of the first things we noticed about using the Surge with our iPhone is that because of the nonslip material and easy grip sides on the Surge it’s more comfortable to use the iPhone with the Surge attached.
The easy grip sides allow for your fingers to get a sure hold on the Surge. While the smooth glossy look of the iPhone is pretty to look at, it makes it difficult to hold. The ribbed sides of the Surge were designed to help you grip the case.

The same nonslip material used on the inside of the Surge is used on the front side of the case as well. This is a smooth, soft rubber-like material that is very comfortable to hold.
Also, the added depth of the Surge case helps to attain a firmer more secure grip on your favorite portable device. There’s definitely a limit to how thin these devices can be because there’s a point that it becomes less useful as the device become smaller…

I like the iPhone Surge charging case unit. I’ve seen a few similar to it, and I had a question that I haven’t seen answered yet:
Is there a button that can be pushed to activate the charger for the iPhone? What I mean is, can the iPhone be inserted into the unit without it charging, and then, when I deem it necessary, I can hit a button, or flip a switch and charge it when I want to? I think it would be better on the iPhone battery to charge when it is low, rather than to have a constant charge until the Surge power runs out. I’d be interested in one of these if it had a switch to activate the charging. Otherwise, I wouldn’t want to keep my battery perpetually charging, endlessly, until the thing ran out of juice.
Any thoughts? Thanks,
Wesley, no we do not have a feature like that. We specifically left off any kind of switches or buttons because we wanted it to be as simple as possible. Connect it when you want to charge your device and disconnect it when you don’t need a charge.
I have just recently purchased this product and am quite happy with it. I have one unanswered question though, what is the small hole on the right side of the Surge for? For a moment, I thought it was for headphones… Any idea…???
My Touch does not fit tightly in the surge, a little shake and it slides right out. Any suggestions on how to remedy that? Also, It doesn’t seem to solar charge when the Touch is in it. Had it in the sun all day and no lights at all displayed when I push the button.
Pat, we are going to follow up on your question via email.
